Hey, we all learn in different ways and it helps to learn in multiple ways. Self-taught is never really self-taught. It's learning by observation without outside influence. And taking lessons is hardly making yourself solely a recipient. You're asking for guidance and feedback. Even then, it helps to have material to refer to, to reinforce ideas, to hear someone else's performance. Music is innate in all of us, but just like a study of language helps you express ideas better in a verbal sense, music education can really unlock the power of music inside you.
